The Power of the Tok

TikTok is feeding our minds with so much great content. And as much as TikTok is a fun, creative, and informational app, we need to remember to stop scrolling and be in touch with the real world. But I am here to talk about all the fantastic benefits of the Tok!

TikTok has quickly become my number one search engine. If I need to look up or find information on what is happening in our world, I immediately open the TikTok app. My For You page will mostly look like A TON of beauty influencers, skincare gurus, excellent restaurants in New York City, dietitians, and so much more, while one of my friends might have things like weightlifting, sports, and how to make money in crypto on their For You page.

The terms influencer and content creator have become standard terms for the everyday user on TikTok. They are people whose full-time job is to entertain, teach, and share their knowledge with their followers. Many people with a large following are now getting paid to market and sponsor top brands, which is why these creators have such a chokehold on their viewers. These creators have HEAVILY influenced me and so many others. And a lot of the top brands are finding TikTok to be an excellent marketing strategy, considering they don’t have to pay for a giant billboard or subway ad.

TikTok is a vast melting pot for all sorts of people. There is a huge variety of ages, professions, and types of content. And one of the great things about it is that the viewer can see and gain information about something they never thought they would be interested in. I always have my go-to creators for specific things. For example, I go to The VIP List for restaurant recommendations. Some of my favorites include Roeys, Parm, and Gali. For beauty, I go to Courtney Dryden’s page, where I have probably found 90% of my favorite products. I keep up with celebrity news and gossip on TikTok, so I can feel in the loop about what's happening. You would be surprised to see how many intelligent and helpful people there are on TikTok. I've gotten information from anyone from college counselors to board-certified dietitians.

TikTok is different from any other app because you don’t need to have the stereotypical mind or look. You can gain a following based on your creativity, humor, and passion. It’s tough to get your name out there on apps like Instagram and YouTube. But not on TikTok. Never in a million years would I have believed you if you told me I would have over 17 million views on a video. But that’s just it; anyone can have a name for themselves on the app.

TikTok is a creative outlet where I can engage with other content and explore new topics. It is so awesome knowing that once you hit the post, anyone can see your video. Hopefully, you help or entertain or inspire others too!
