My Top 3 Movies from 2022-2023

There have been many great movies over the past few years. However, I chose three movies that I believe add more to life (humor included!). These are definitely worth watching, and so much fun to watch with a friend.

Bullet Train: Bullet Train is a violently comedic action movie, based on the Japanese book of the same name. It is rated R and is filled with fiery action as well as witty humor in the most unexpected places. One must be aware that the movie is very bloody (although not horror) and is not suitable for young children. In the movie, five murderous contractors are hired for competing jobs that revolve around a briefcase with a train sticker, and all groups are blissfully unaware of one another. Most of the movie takes place on a bullet train. The main cast includes Brad Pitt as Ladybug and Joey King as Prince. Channing Tatum and Ryan Reynolds also make guest appearances.

Barbie: Barbie is rated PG-13 and is a wonderful satirical movie that explores two extremes of sexism and shows why both are bad, while also exploring themes of self-discovery. The movie hones in on the complexities of real life. Barbie was a huge blockbuster when it hit the box office. It was hilarious and I loved it so much that I watched it once in a theater in the United States, and a second time in a theater in Ireland. There are a few sexual jokes, but they are not essential to the movie and can be easily ignored. The movie stars Margot Robbie as Stereotypical Barbie and Ryan Gosling as “a Ken.”

Miles and his good friend, Gwen. (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse)

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is an animated Marvel movie. It is full of action and funny exchanges between characters. It is rated PG. This is the second movie in the series (Beyond the Spider-Verse is coming out next), so don’t watch it until you have seen Into the Spider-Verse. It follows the next chapter of Miles Morales's life, where he fights to be himself in a world where everyone wishes he were different. In Miles’s second film, he navigates being a high school student, a son, a friend, and…Spiderman.
