I want you to help me save the world, I can’t do it on my own.
—Vivienne Westwood
The world of fashion has long relied on consumer demand in response to a growth in trends. This has had a significant impact on the state of our planet. Many artists, designers, brands, and activists have worked to address the issues and incorporate sustainable practices. Vivienne Westwood is one of those artists.
Many people know her from her trademark logo, “The Orb,” displayed as jewelry. Yet what makes this designer special is her call to action. Vivienne Westwood uses her platform to take on issues like climate change and the suffering of animals for their fur. Westwood has many campaigns like the Greenpeace Save the Arctic campaign, Cool Earth, and SWITCH. Fashion has always been a tricky industry for benefiting our environment. Nonetheless, Westwood uses sustainable materials to keep our planet in check. Sadly, the revolutionary recently passed, but her legacy lives on. The world is not saved yet…
