Personal Statement: “Joining the LMU cross country team has been one of the best parts of my high school experience. I have found a great community of people and have pushed myself to limits I never thought possible. I joined junior year as an okay runner, but I wanted to get better. I spent most of my time lifting, but I loved seeing progress in my running ability. This season has been my best and hardest, but I have made PRs in almost every race, which has opened me up to the possibility of running in college. Whether I'm racing or not, I always enjoy going on runs, and I am planning on doing a half marathon this year! I am not sure yet if I will be running indoor track this winter, as distance is my forte, but I'm so grateful to the XC team, who are all people who genuinely care about each other and push each other to do their best.”
2022 Season: Simone ran a total of 7 races in the fall of 2022. Her best 5000 meter run occurred at the PSAL Grand Prix-Week 5 where she clocked in a time of 23:48, placing 5th. She also ran a 20:30 2.5 mile run at the NYC XC Carnival.
2023 Season: Simone’s senior season was super strong. Her best 5000 meter run was timed at 23:22 at the PSAL Grand Prix-Week 5. Both years she PR’d (personal record) at this meet. At the All Hallows Invitational she ran 19:26 in the 2.5 mile event. Simone capped off her senior season by holding team season-bests in the 2.5 mile run and the 5000 meter run.
